When you think about what a year truly means, it’s far more than just 365 days. Each year brings countless ups and downs—moments of joy and sorrow, trials and triumphs, successes and setbacks. It’s easy to get caught up in these waves and lose sight of the bigger picture: what really matters and where you are on your journey.
Over time, I’ve tried to keep the mindset that there’s always something to be thankful for. Yet, often I will hear pushback siting list of negatives that happened to individuals, or the tragedies in the world. There is no disputing the evil and the hard in our lives and the world around us, but we can’t let that dominate our perspective and drown out the contrasting good in the world and blessing in our lives.
The truth is, every day we’re given is a gift—an opportunity to grow, do better, and make changes in our lives. As 1 Thessalonians 5:18 reminds us, “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” No matter where you find yourself—whether life feels like a valley or a peak—there’s always something to be grateful for.
I once read a quote that asks, “What if you woke up today with only the things you thanked God for yesterday?” Consider that for a moment. Challenge yourself to reflect on what you’re grateful for and what you might be taking for granted. Shifting your perspective this way can transform how you view your world and help you recognize the abundance of blessings all around you.
Wishing everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving surrounded by loved ones. Remember, kindness, grace, and love are always within reach—they cost nothing and can make a world of difference.
